Joico Defy Damage:
This System can be added onto any lightening or colouring service, or can be used as a “stand alone” treatment. The system helps to rebuild the hair molecules as well as to maintain the integrity of the hair while lightening/bleaching.
Defy Damage is great if you never wanted to highlight your hair due to “damage” or if you are dark wanting to go blonde, or if you just want to spoil your hair with a little love! We do so many things to our hair…it’s time we give back a little!

How it works during lightening services:
Step 1: A Bond building liquid will be sprayed throughout your hair. This liquid protects the bond of your hair and optimizes your colour by balancing the porosity of your hair.
Step 2: At the sink, once the lightener or colour is rinsed out, a solution is applied and combed through the hair. This tightens, smooths, and closes the cuticle. The hair instantly feels soft and manageable.
Step 3: This is optional. We have the defy damage at home system available for purchase. This helps to maintain healthy hair!

What is bond building?
Our hair has 3 types of bonds: Disulfide, salt and hydrogen. Joico Defy Damage ProSeries harness the power of three proven hair heroes, along with smart release technology to protect and strengthen these hair bonds before, during and after every colour and lightening service.
Does Defy Damage only PREVENT damage?
No, Defy Damage addresses existing damage as well as future damage.
How does Smart Release Technology work?
Liposomes are deposited onto the hair strands. Over time, each Smart Release Liposome bursts open to release Keratin, Arginine and Rosehip Oil.
Keratin and Arginine penetrate the hair to repair damage sites and strengthen the hair, while Rosehip Oil adds softness and shine to the cuticle layer. The result: instantly 50% less breakage, and a continuous release of healthy-hair ingredients makes hair softer and less prone to future damage.
Do the Defy Damage Shampoo and Conditioner help with colour longevity?
Yes, but for best results, we recommend using the Defy Damage Protective Shield in conjunction with the shampoo and conditioner.
Cezanne:
Cezanne is a Keratin Smoothing Treatment. It helps to strengthen and repair dry, frizzy hair, leaving your hair smooth and shiny. The Cezanne treatment will also cut down blow drying time after the treatment has been completed.
There is both the full treatment (The Classic) and the Express treatment. The Express treatment gives you the same amazing results in less time and less cost. The Express does not last nearly as long, but is great before a trip to a humid country or to just try out the service before fully committing.
The Classic also has an amazing purple formula for blondes!! Same great results, yet you get beautifully toned blonde hair after the treatment is complete..

What kind of results can I expect from Cezanne?
Cezanne Classic Keratin Smoothing Treatment reduces frizz and delivers smoother, stronger, healthier, more manageable and exquisitely beautiful hair that lasts for months.
I have been using formaldehyde-based keratin smoothing treatments. Will they see similar results with Cezanne?
Yes. Clients get very similar results to their previous formaldehyde treatments without the health risks. In some cases, frizz and curl reduction will be less than results achieved by the formaldehyde-based systems.
What are the active ingredients?
Cezanne’s proprietary formulation is a combination of ingredients including Sericin, a component of silk. In silk, Sericin acts as cement between fibrous filaments. It acts in a similar way when Cezanne is applied to the hair, bonding to natural keratin and cementing itself between strands of keratin proteins. It also contains keratin and gyoxyloylcarbocysteine. Unlike Carbocysteine systems you may be familiar with, Cezanne doesn’t have the unpleasant smell. Cezanne contains Glycolic Acid, which is a well-known exfoliant and moisturizer for the skin.
The treatment uses a revolutionary low pH system with a similar acidity to lemon juice to open the cuticle and infuse the cortex with a proprietary blend of Sericin, keratin, botanical extracts and vitamins, replacing lost and damaged protein mass. When heat is applied during the flat iron process, the cuticle is closed and the proprietary blend of healthy ingredients is locked into the hair, protecting and smoothing the hair from the inside out.
How long will Cezanne Classic Keratin Treatment last?
The Classic Treatment will last 3-5 months on average. Similar to formaldehyde-based keratin smoothing treatments, the amount of time varies by hair type, texture and maintenance routine.
How long will Cezanne Express last?
The Express treatment will last up to 8 weeks. The amount of time varies by hair type, texture and maintenance.
Does Cezanne give the same super straight results as a Japanese straightener or lye relaxer?
No. While it reduces frizz and delivers smoother and more manageable hair, it is not a lye relaxer or Japanese straightener and will not deliver identical results.
Does The Express Treatment give the same visual results as The Classic Treatment?
Yes. It will reduce frizz and deliver smoother and more manageable hair similar to The Classic Treatment, but it will not last as long.
How soon can I wash my hair, work out and wear ponytails or clips?
Unlike most smoothing treatments, you can wash your hair, work out, wear ponytails or clips and use styling products immediately after getting a Cezanne treatment.
Can Cezanne Classic and Express be used on all hair types?
Yes. Any hair type and texture—no matter how colored, bleached, highlighted or damaged—can receive Cezanne Classic Treatment. Cezanne can also be applied over other chemical treatments such as Japanese straighteners and relaxers.
Does Cezanne Classic and Express work on kinky-curly hair?
Yes, it works great on natural/kinky-curly hair and can be applied directly over relaxed hair. For women who are natural or transitioning, it will reduce bulk, soften hair and define curl. Cezanne Express will reduce frizz and deliver smoother, more manageable results, but it will not be as effective or long lasting as the Cezanne Classic Keratin Smoothing Treatment.
Does Cezanne damage the hair with repeated use, like formaldehyde-based keratin treatments?
No. Cezanne makes hair stronger, healthier and improves texture with repeated use.
Can Cezanne lift color?
As with all keratin smoothing treatments, there is a potential to lift color because of the heat involved with the process. Whether or not any color is lifted and how much color is lifted is a function of the particular hair or color type and condition. If you have pink, blue, green, yellow or any other bright fashion colors, there may be a greater tendency for lift. You can eliminate the issues related to lifting color if you color after the treatment.
How long does the service take?
The Classic can take between 2-3.5 hours, depending on hair type and length.
The Express can take between 1.5-2.5 hours depending on hair type and length.
